Baby, You’re 6 Months Old!

Baby, you’re 6 months old! Friday 13th may be unlucky for some, but not for us anymore. I can’t believe you’ve been in this world for half a year already. Your little personality is really starting to shine through and you fill our lives with so much love.

Here are some of the milestones we have hit this month:

Moved into your own room

You’re now in your big boy cot bed! It’s crazy to think you used to be such a tiny dot in your crib, but now you’ve gotten too big for it so it was time for you to ‘move out’. It made Mama totes emosh! You love to practice your new rolling skills at night, so we’ve had to wedge some towels under the sheets so you don’t move and wake yourself up quite so much. But you’ve been sleeping like a baby – mostly anyway. Now you’re getting better at popping your dummy back in yourself if you’ve dropped it, Mummy and Daddy are doing less night-time journeys to come and find it for you (thank the lord!)

Swimming

You absolutely LOVE going swimming! We made sure we went somewhere where the pool was nice and warm for you for your first trip. You’re such a water baby (not sure where you get that from to be honest!) and Mummy and Daddy were so impressed with how naturally you took to kicking and splashing around. Although you spend the majority of the time deep in concentration (so cute) we couldn’t wipe the smile off our faces the whole time. We’re going to try to take you a couple of times a month and hopefully you can start lessons some day soon If you didn’t love bath-time enough already, you now go CRAZY practising your new splashing skills.

Weaning

We’re now 2 weeks into veggie purees and it’s so much fun! Cauliflower has been your favourite so far (weirdo). You love to grab the spoon yourself but sometimes (most of the time) miss your mouth. Now you’re learning to swallow some of it and not just dribble it all out, we’re going to try some finger foods this week, so you can make even more mess for Mama to clean up.. Yayyyy!

Playing at the park

Look at you,  so dinky in that swing! But now you’re getting a bit better at holding yourself up we decided a trip to the park was in order. You loved being pushed in the swing, so many giggles. Just like Daddy, you love being outdoors. We walk Joey every day and you just gaze around taking it all in. Time to start wrapping up warm now we’re in Autumn (and stop pulling your hat off you naughty noo noo!)

More ‘firsts’ this month

  • On the move – not quite crawling but you don’t half get around on your belly! Some sort of 360 manoeuvre gets you round your playmat
  • Photoshoot – we had a Christmas photoshoot with Fox Cub Photography and got some gorgeous photos! You were far more interested in playing with the baubles than smiling for the camera but we got there in the end.

Things you love

  • In the Night Garden (literally transfixed!)
  • Bath-time (although it’s the opposite of relaxing before bed!)
  • Blowing raspberries (so much entertainment but so much dribble!)
  • Tickles (where are those piggies?!)

Not so much..

  • Your reflux medicine (I don’t blame you, poor thing)

Weight: At 25 weeks old = 16lbs 9oz
